Each opportunity is unique and suitable for just the right kind of person. There are a number of people or companies who will try to convince you there home business opportunity is perfect for you, when in fact, it might not be. It is up to you to weed through all of the different opportunities to find one that will make you successful. The question, which now arises, is how to ensure that when you have started your home business opportunity that is a profitable one?
You should be aware that a profitable home based business must first start with the correct home based opportunity. Most people choose a home business opportunity, which is quite popular, and everyone knows about. However, the problem, which arises with this, is, without realizing it, the market has already become saturated with many people selling the same product. In this way, your chances of having a profitable home business will diminish due to over availability of the product. On the other hand, choosing a home business opportunity that no one has ever heard of is too risky if this is your first time working with a home based business opportunity. Just because a product or concept might be new, there is no guarantee that it will sell. Therefore you run the risk of not making a profit at all with your home based business opportunity.
In order to ensure you are on your way with a profitable home based business opportunity, everyone thinking about working at home, should think about the amount of money necessary in starting a business. Each different type of home based business opportunity will require various amounts of time and finance dedicated to the job to make it work. For you business to be profitable, it is necessary to first plan out how much will initially be invested into it. A new startup business can quickly drain a bank account if a business plan is not initially drawn up. Therefore, to ensure you business is a profitable one, spend time budgeting out your much money will be allocated for each aspect of the business, and stick to this business plan without spending carelessly.
When first starting a home based business opportunity, a lot of hours are necessary in order to make the business as profitable as possible. This would initially include time spent away from family and friends growing your business to a stable level. Therefore, to ensure your business is profitable, the hours spent away from loved ones must be factored in.
After considering the amount of money and time which is needed to make your home based business opportunity profitable, the most important advice would be to start marketing your business as much as possible. There are many forms of business marketing available such as word of mouth, business cards, brochures and flyers, or ads in the newspaper. Yet whatever type of marketing you choose to adopt, be consistent with it. With more people becoming aware of your business, and telling their friends about it, the more profitable your business will be.

How To Achieve Goal And Make Your Dream Comes True?
by: Curtis Lee
Many people set goal or goals and attempted to achieve them within certain set time frame. But very few can achieve their goal. How many times we have heard of people setting a “New Year Resolution” but every year they are just updating this resolution with a new “target end date”. Why is it that most people cannot achieve their goal but few people can? What makes these few individual so special that they can achieve goal, at times beyond the imagination of many people?
What makes ordinary people achieving the extraordinary? Apart from having a clear goal in mind, one key element is “a Compelling Reason”. Most people fail to achieve their goal because they lack of a compelling reason.
A compelling reason provides the crucial motivational force for one to focus and continuously push themselves to their limit, out of their comfort zone and eventually achieving their goal. A compelling reason is also the power that assists the individual to overcome every challenge that comes along the way towards the journey of success.
A goal without the backing of a compelling reason is merely a paper talk and will continue to be only existed as a written New Year Resolution.
Therefore for every individual to be able to achieve their goal, they not only must have a clear goal in mind, they must confront themselves to identify the reason why they want to achieve the goal. The failure of achieving the goal must provide a consequence that put the person in an extremely uncomfortable state.
Does this mean that all those who do not achieve their goal did not have a compelling reason to their goal? No, it is usually not the case. What is lacking is the awareness of the compelling reason. The reason is in their subconscious mind. Therefore to bring out the awareness of such compelling reason, require a conscious effort.
One technique is to magnify the effect. Magnify the effect of the consequence of achieving the goal. By visualizing the kind of joy when achieving the goal, for example the ability to travel around the world. Magnify the effect of the consequence of not achieving the goal. Visualize the kind of pain that you are suffering when not achieving the goal. For a person who wants to be able to retire young at age of 45, he can imagine himself at the age of 55 still have to continue working for others, doing work that are not part of his passion, working long hour and only getting a fraction of his pay when he was 10 years ago.
Like what Anthony Robbins mentioned, everything we do is to avoid pain and to achieve pleasure. By magnifying the pain when not achieving the goal and magnifying the joy of achieving it, it will help to bring it to the conscious awareness of the compelling reason for pursuing the goal.

No Lawyer is Above the Law 10 Tips on Suing Errant Lawyers
A lawyer is not god or above the reach of the law. Most countries including the US have laws that declare that lawyers are accountable for the actions they take and as a professional every lawyer must behave professionally, responsibly, and ethically.Often the lawyer you hire may not be ethical or squeaky clean, in this case you can protect yourself from legal malpractices by suing your lawyer. Before you file a suit you need to know that you are well within your rights to sue your lawyer.
Lawyers can be sued for malpractice, misrepresentation, inappropriate billing, negligence, breach of fiduciary duties, and breach of contract among many other instances.
To sue a lawyer you need to establish clearly that the lawyer had wronged you. The court needs to know in no uncertain terms that the lawyer let you down on a case you would have otherwise won. Suing a lawyer has to be done quickly, find out from your state bar association or court what the time limit is.
Suing a lawyer is expensive so before you take the final step you should try: meeting your lawyer and laying the cards on the table, try and solve matters; complaint to the local Bar Association; or seek arbitration to resolve the dispute. If nothing works and you are confident of the strength of your case go ahead and sue the lawyer.
To effectively sue your lawyer you must:
1. Keep immaculate records of your case, contract with him, and all meetings, phone calls, and so on. The documentation must be airtight.
2. Prove beyond doubt how much the case has cost you in terms of legal fees and other expenses.
3. Establish clearly that the lawyer did not act properly, dereliction of duty.
4. Prove breach of duty and negligence.
5. Have proof that the lawyer’s lack of interest and misrepresentation hurt you financially.
6. Have documentation showing how the case proceeded and where the lawyer slipped.
7. Keep documentations of unreturned calls, cancelled meetings, and non-appearance at hearings.
8. Show that the lawyer let your case gather dust while he focused on other clients in spite of your many reminders or urgings. That for the lawyer your case held no commitment or interest.
9. Establish that after agreeing to handle your case personally the lawyer left the case work to an assistant or junior.
10. Have proof that the lawyer has misappropriated your funds, over billed you, or settled the case on your behalf with vested interest in the opponent.
Malpractice and law are related and sadly many lawyers forget the wows they took and practice law that is unethical and unlawful Every citizen has the right to justice and so when you have enough evidence to sue the lawyer you must first find a lawyer who will agree to file a suit against your lawyer. Always take a second opinion from a lawyer who is unknown to your lawyer and unrelated to the case that you are fighting. Suing a lawyer means high expenses as even lawyers who handle cases of suing errant lawyers charge exorbitant fees.
Read up extensively on suing a lawyer and refer to different cases to determine how successful you are likely to be. Weigh the pros and cons before you take a final decision.

10 Tips on Preparing for the first meeting with your attorney
When consulting a lawyer you need to keep in mind that fact that you will be paying for every minute of his or her time. So, it is important for you to prepare well for the first meeting. If you go well prepared and carry with you a file containing all details of the case then you will be able to keep the meeting short and to the point.1. Be prepared to be completely professional and focused. Avoid outbursts of emotion or anger.
2. Make detailed notes and a list of points that you need to bring to the lawyer’s attention.
3. Keep ready a page containing the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of every person connected with the case including witnesses if any.
4. Make 2-3 sets of all relevant documents that play a role in the case.
5. Prepare to relate the story clearly without getting facts mixed up.
6. Be honest and open and upfront about any facts even if they are negative or bad. In case you are in the wrong your lawyer must know about it if he is to represent you efficiently.
7. Take notes when your lawyer speaks and if there is anything you don’t understand ask for a clarification. And, ensure that you can do all he asks you to.
8. Discuss clearly the steps the lawyer will take. And ask how you can help by doing research or ground work.
9. Make an effort to clarify things like billing, rates, what is included and what would be billed over and above the agreed on rate.
10. Ask for an honest opinion on how the case is likely to fare in the courts. And
Ask the lawyer’s assistant or secretary if you should send the case file a day or two before the meeting so that the lawyer can familiarize himself with the case details. This way in the first meeting itself the lawyer will be able to ask for clarifications or details.
The first meeting should inspire confidence and establish a strong foundation on which to build an understanding relationship. If a case is to progress well, you and the lawyer need to understand each other well and have a through understanding of what is important to the case and what is not. The lawyer must:
• Be interested in the case to give his best shot.
• Be professional and organised in his working systems.
• Be honest about the case and whether he has handles such matters previously.
You must present all facts clearly, not hide any wrongs on your part, be willing to understand how the law works and be prepared to devote time to help the lawyer.
If the two can work in tandem then the case will progress smoothly without hitches.

I’ve got one big question. It’s a question that will make everything in your relationship completely worthwhile… even the bits that get on your nerves and cause you head and heart aches…
It’s the type of question you wouldn’t ordinarily ask - but that’s okay, because you didn’t know to ask it… until now!
For most people, relationships don’t go smoothly. Undercurrents, disputes, emotions, periods, children, habits, morals, values, work hours and workloads, these are just a few of the kind of things that can cause conflicts. But what if I told you something…
What if I told you it’s not about the issue?
My philosophy is that no issue is bigger than the relationship. If we’re honest it’s never really the issue that causes the problem. What causes the problem is the emotions behind the issue.
And what causes the emotions?
What causes the our relationship conflicts is, at the core, very rarely the issue that’s in front of us now. This may seem hard to take at first so let me explain a little more.
When we react to something someone says or does we are in effect re-acting - behaving in way we acted before. This is what we might call learned behaviour. We may have learned that behaviour in a number of ways: watching our parents behaviour in a relationship, seeing it on TV, our own experience etc.
Are these learned re-actions appropriate in all circumstances?
I’d say no. A few days ago my partner made a sweeping statement that… well… to be frank, pushed all my buttons. What she said was like a red rag to a bull. Thankfully I caught myself before any real damage was done. I immediately knew there was nothing wrong with what she had said, or how she had said it. But the words she used, reminded me of someone else and a pattern of behaviour I ran with them. This is the type of conditioned, unconscious, response I’m talking about.
If your partner presses your buttons does it mean the relationship bad?
Conflict doesn’t have to mean the relationship is bad. It can indicate that you, or your partner, or most probably both of you, on occasions, have some things that you need to become more aware of. If you can begin to view your relationship as a playground to work these things out, the relationship can become a whole new arena of fun and games. And this is where my question can really help…
My question will get you thinking about the how you can help yourself and your relationship become a harmonious haven rather than a gladiator’s ring. It will help you be a more understanding person for your partner and it will help to spare you from saying things you’ll regret later.
The question is profoundly simple. But when you ask it and use the outcome effectively you begin to take your relationship onto a new level. Things that used to cause you problems will vanish. And when new things come up they’ll have very little power.
When you find your buttons have been pushed the question you have to ask is this: What’s this really about?
Simple isn’t it. But it takes you right to the heart of the matter. As I said, relationship conflict is rarely about an issue and more to do with the conditioned responses.
By asking my question what you do is take the conditioned behaviour and transform it into the conscious. In effect what begins to happen is this: you move beyond the past conditioned response that causes conflict and are left with the current issue. This question allows you to understand what’s going on inside you. Knowing this means you can then bypass the past and deal with what is currently before you.
But what if you don’t want to move beyond the past?
Then I guess you’ll continue to re-act it out… until the pain and loss get the better of you.
My very good wishes
Neil

There weren't any other options for Ron Provinge.
If the grant didn't come through, he would have to wait for months to learn if he qualified for a kidney transplant.
The answer hinged on $500. But it was $500 he didn't have.
Wife Joanna had heard about Modest Needs, a nonprofit that offers one-time grants to people with emergency expenses — such as medical bills.
Joanna applied. Ron thought their chances were "slim to none."
"Any time you try and go do something like that, when you are working, a lot of people think, 'You're working, you should be able to afford what you need.' But (not) when it comes to medical bills," he said.
Modest Needs assists working families, many earning too much to qualify for government assistance, but not enough to shield them from financial struggles. The goal is to keep people from slipping into poverty — people at risk of missing a house payment or losing their job because they can't afford to fix their car and drive to work.
The maximum grant is $1,000.
Headquartered in New York, Modest Needs was founded by a former professor, Keith Taylor, because, as he says, we've all needed help but we also have the need to help others.
While working his way through college as a projectionist in a movie theater, Taylor's car broke down and he had to use rent money to repair his car. Days away from being evicted, he mentioned it to his boss, who Taylor described as a "grouchy" man. The next day his boss handed him a check for $290, which Taylor calls "$290 life-changing dollars."
Taylor launched Modest Needs in 2002 with a $350 monthly commitment out of his own salary. His goal was to help at least one person a month, but thanks to donations from regular people and backing from some high-profile foundations, he's accomplished much more. In March, the nonprofit reached $1 million in donations.

Violent Video Games Lead to Real World Violance
Games are not just for fun they have an effect on the player. Studies have shown that games do have a positive side and that they promote learning as well as help heal. On the other hand games are known to become an addiction just like alcoholism or drugs and affect the mind in a negative way.
Research indicates that playing violent games like Doom or Mortal Combat increases aggression in players in both everyday settings and laboratory studies. Since games are interactive they involve participation of the player and this tends to influence thinking as well as intuitive reactions. This being so, violent games are more harmful than violence in movies or television.
Psychologists like Craig Anderson and Karen Dill have noted that aggression escalates in players who already have an in born tendency to aggressive behavior and that repeated exposure to violence is like a conditioning and over time, the person becomes trained or conditioned to be violent. Craig Anderson is dedicated to the issue and in depth information on different aspects of gaming can be found at http://www.psychology.iastate.edu/~caa/ .
Violent games and the creation of violent behavior has received mixed reactions from researchers but when analyzed using meta-analytic techniques the result is consistent in that playing violent games leads to “ increased aggressive behavior, thoughts, increased physiological arousal and decreased levels of helping behavior.” It is an established fact that consistent exposure to violent games leads to delinquency, fighting in school and outside, as well as criminal behavior.
John Murray of Kansas State University found that gamers became less sensitive to violence after repeated exposure and that exposure to violence activated the amygdale a small part of the human brain that controls fight/flight impulses.
Studies show:
1) Playing violent games teach the gamer that success can be had from being violent.
2) That since gaming rewards violence, gamers tend to start believing that violence can be rewarding. The positive outcome of violence in games increases the impact in the minds of gamers especially kids.
3) That playing games hone point and shoot techniques and soon a child or adult gamer will have no second thoughts in pointing and shooting should such a situation arise in real life. Repeated point and shoot actions in gaming helps humans overcome the hesitation or reluctance to point and shoot.
4) That violence in gaming tends to teach gamers that violence is the way to solve differences or conflict. Repeated gaming increases a gamer’s aggression and tendency to fight, argue, and use physical force to win an argument or settle differences in real life.
Rene Weber of Michigan State University has presented an in depth study of violence and gaming in Media Psychology in January 2006. In the work she explores the influence of violent games on brain function and thought and concludes that although gaming has a positive side such as enhancing learning, social skills, and improvement of physical abilities it is imperative for society to examine in detail and thoroughly the negative side of gaming. According to statistics, of 70 odd top selling games more than 49 per cent contained serious violence and in the US every child and adult plays video and computer games for at least 30 minutes every day.
Gaming has two sides and one must be aware of the positive as well as negative affects

Ways To Hide Files On Your Computer
by: Clinton BrownAt some point in time, perhaps on your family computer, or your own computer, you will develop, collect, and store some important personal files on your hard drive that are strictly for your needs and purposes. These digital files may be so important to you, that under no circumstances, should anyone ever be able to access and see them. Some of these personal and business files may include documents, spreadsheets, emails, pdfs, text files, invoices, pictures, videos, and mp3s. These files may be so sensitive in nature, that you realize a need to prevent your spouse, kids, friends, or anyone for that matter, from viewing and accessing them. Perhaps, you may even need to hide porn or other explicit files. Just imagine if your spouse, or little ones at home, did a file search for all picture files and movies that were on your computer. Hopefully the results wouldn't expose them to anything that you wouldn't want them to see. Just imagine what could happen, if your children at home decided to fool around with your work and files that was listed in the recent documents menu. Ok, you get the point. And thus, this question is raised: How do I hide files and folders so that they won't be discovered?
There are several ways in which you can hide files: You can put your files within a folder and apply the hidden attribute to the folder. You can bury your files deeply in subdirectories within subdirectories and hope that no one browses using Windows Explorer. You can change the file name and file extension of your file to something unique and strange, so that no one recognizes it, or you can purchase a file hiding software security application such as a folder lock or folder hider with password protection.
All of the above methods may be your solution to hide your important files. It simply depends on the significant importance of your files and level of security you need. You can apply the hidden attribute to a folder or file by choosing to do so within its properties. This is a simple way of hiding a folder in Windows XP. However, the files will still show up if a user sets the option "show hidden files and folders" within the folders options. Another way to hide a file is simply by concealing it by dumping it into a folder you think no one will ever access. However, you run the risk of it appearing within the results of a Windows Search and having it displayed in the documents list. Another way to hide a file is by renaming it along with its file extension so that no one recognizes it or is able to open it using its standard program. Although this method could possibly work for you, you would have to waste time renaming it and changing it back to the correct extension.
And thus, the following question is raised: What is a quick and sure proof way to hide files in windows so that they won't appear within Windows Explorer and won't be displayed in the results of a Windows search? Your solution: A simple and easy to use folder security software utility that will allow you to hide files and folders and make them reappear all with a simple hotkey. Supreme Folder Hider is such a solution that will save you time and will provide you with an extra added sense of security. Supreme Folder Hider prevents all file access from Windows Explorer, the command prompt, shortcuts, and most recently used document lists.

Knowledge is an ocean and all must be able to access it. And, that's what e-learning has done it has revolutionized education and the way we learn. Learning has moved out of its box and thanks to e-learning can benefit not just the young but the older ones too. With e-learning one can get on with life and learn for pleasure or for work reasons. And, companies today encourage their work force to further their skills through e-learning.
A study by Skillsoft discovered that: 87.5 % find e-learning easy to use; almost 525 share what they learnt with others; 93.5% enjoy the courses; 73% think its interesting, and 98% will recommend e-learning as an effective way to learn.
There are umpteen benefits to e-learning and of these the 10 greatest are:
1. Learning never need end. You don't have to go to learning, with e-learning knowledge comes to you. You can study when you want and however you want.
2. Leaning frees your mind and improves your thought processes. E-learning allows you to update skills, further your career, and learn for the sheer pleasure of learning.
3. Since e-learning is a world-wide phenomenon it puts every student in touch with others all around the world. There are no restrictions and interactions are world wide.
4. E-learning improves computer skills as well as communications. Learning goes beyond
course work and books. It becomes hands on and active. There are forums, chat rooms,
and project groups. Learning capabilities are enhanced and enjoyable.
5. E-courses are not restrictive and learning goes beyond the specific field. So, a person can choose to learn a subject unrelated to his education or work. One can learn a language, or choose to study art-history or literature. The cyber world is a canvas and the computer key board the palette.
6. With online courses learning is multi-pronged. It is more than audio-visual. And e-learners have access to a mind boggling range of resources.
7. Since e-learning courses are self-paced students can avoid the tension and stress presented by regular courses. With e-learning one can take exams when one is ready and many courses have a huge component of project work.
8. E-learning is different it is interactive and innovative. Often a lesson may be taught through quizzes, questionnaires, or games and often learning is done unconsciously.
9. E-learning inculcates team work and interactions. And since learning involves extensive use of technology you unconsciously become tech savvy.
10. Builds curiosity and creativity as students are encouraged to browse through the World Wide Web and find, understand, and complete a set of assignments.
The tools of e-learning go beyond the traditional and since students are not in a class room environment learning takes on new hues of independent thought, individualized pace, and creative approach.
The world of e-learning has created a new world where learning is eternal and there are no limitations.

I know you have a million things to do right now, and one of them could be reading and absorbing that great Internet Marketing course you just shelled out $297.00 for. You know, the one that has the next secret you can use to make massive amounts of cash.
But that is not what you are doing right now, is it?
I can probably summarize what happened with that Internet Marketing course when it first arrived...
1) You tore it open like a kid in a candy store.
2) You broke out the first manual, dvd, cd, whatever...thinking "I am going to do so much with the information I am about to learn!"
3) You were able to read the first portion of that magnificent course (and many of them are actually loaded with those secrets they promised).
But then...
4) You allowed some sort of distraction, and thought "I will just tend to this and be back in a few minutes..."
Those are the words of death for that internet course. How many times have you actually made it back to that information that could change your business life?
Come on now, really. Not many times huh?
I totally understand. I was there myself once. You are a business owner right? Lots of important stuff to do, too many "fires to put out."
Right?
Then why did you buy that internet marketing course to begin with? By the way, that internet marketing course could be a book, magazine, or any other source of information that you promised yourself "you would get back to." Is it important to keep yourself educated and on the cutting edge in the world of business?
I already know you know the answer to that question. And, you have probably referred to the title of this post and thought "I thought this was a 'how to' post, not a lecture." The real title to this post should have been:
"How Do You Read And Absorb Information When There Are So Many Distractions Pulling Away Your Time?"
And the answer is...
Just do it. Make time to do it. It is that important. I mean, how much time does it actually take to read a small portion of that Internet Marketing Course and gain a useful idea that you can use in your business the next day, or plan to implement this idea another day?
Ten minutes? Fifteen minutes? Come on now, be realistic...
For those of you that are reading this post to the end here...and saying:
"But Joe, I don't even have ten or fifteen minutes in a day to sit down and read anything!"
Well...
You are welcome to call me when the money runs out or you are closing your doors. I will try to help. But it might be too late.
Sorry for the harsh reality there. This is just too important to use that excuse though.
Set aside a fifteen minute window for "self education", every day. Even when you have a day off. It's that important. Do not allow distractions in this window of time...
Your business depends on it.
Period.

Cisco warns of more router vulnerabilities
The intrusion prevention capabilities of Cisco Systems' routers could be prone to attack, after the networking giant revealed two vulnerabilities in its key operating system.
The vulnerabilities affect those versions of Cisco's Internetwork Operating System (IOS) that start with "12.3" and "12.4". Almost all Cisco routers run a version of IOS. The flaws allow a hacker to circumvent the IPS protection built into the affected routers and also cause routers to crash.
IPS is an inspection feature found in many networking products, including those from Cisco, that aims to block unauthorized network access and malicious code in real time.
In a security advisory, Cisco said there were two vulnerabilities: one that could lead to the IPS being circumvented, and the other that could cause a denial-of-service condition. Exploitation of the first weakness "may result in an attacker being able to evade detection by an IOS IPS device. This could allow protected systems to be covertly attacked," Cisco warned. A hacker exploiting the second vulnerability "may cause an IOS IPS device to crash."

Technically advanced the Wii remote can sense movement and orientation. The remote can identify linear motion along three axes. The optical sensor can determine the direction. According to experts reviewers at CNET the pointer can get jerky or twitchy. And, the tilt control requires a light and subtle touch. The remote controls cannot be calibrated manually and gamers have to make do with Wii’s calibrations.
• The Nunchuk is also slotted for release on Nov 19th and is priced at Us 19.99. This is a device that can be plugged into the Wii remote. It has an analog stick and two buttons and can be used in games like Red Steel and Twilight Princess. Since the nunchuk has motion sensors it permits gamers to perform specific character actions, like a spinning slash attack. According to industry reports this is all set to become the most popular and “must have” accessory.
• The Nintendo Classic Controller will also be released in the US on Nov 19th and is priced at USD 19.99. This is the classic-style expansion controller which can be used with the Wii remote slotted in to play games using a traditional game pad. It is to be used to play existing games, virtual console games, and multiplatform games. It connects to the Wii remote through a cord.
Aimed at gaming being fun the Nintendo Wii will disappoint if graphics and special effects are what are required. The biggest draws are supposed to be the motion-sensing remote , pseudo-reality controls, and internet capabilities. The Wii in its present form will not play CDs or DVDs although this feature is in the offing.

Web Design Tips And Techniques For Site Usability
By Gabriel J. AdamsIf you are a web designer or a webmaster, website design is one of the most important tasks you do. In designing a site, you need to create a design that is easy for users to use, is compatible with different systems, and is search engine friendly.
Making a site that is user friendly:
In some ways, creating a user friendly site is just common sense - other aspects are not so obvious, though. Obviously, you'll want to make the text easy to read, the navigation links easy to find, etc. Here are a few other tips: Put contact information on every page. Make it obvious what you want the user to do after reading a page.. Make it easy for the user to reach your homepage from any other page
Making a site that is cross-platform compatible:
The main factors you need to consider in platform compatibility are the user's browser, screen resolution, color depth, and plug ins.
Browser compatibility is easy - just test your site in various browsers, and fix any incompatibilities. The same for screen resolution - just be sure that you site looks good and is easily navigated with any common screen resolution. Color depth is also relatively simple. Just restrict your design to using web safe colors.
Plug-ins can be a little more complicated. If at all possible, try to use media that is compatible with most versions of a plug in. For example, try not to use a flash movie that requires the latest version of a flash player.
Making a site that is search engine friendly:
The biggest thing you can do to make your site friendly to the search engines is to give it a good link structure. Be sure that each page on your site is linked to from at least two other pages with a plain text link. Image links are OK, but not as good as optimized text links. Javascript and flash links are very bad for search engine usability.

NASA photos may point to recent water flow on Mars
Photographs from NASA's Mars Global Surveyor may indicate some level of occasional liquid water flow on the surface of Mars.Though the Mars Global Surveyor may be lost in space, recent comparisons of images captured throughout the satellite's decade of observing the Red Planet have shown changes in surface geography that, scientists theorize, could be signs of water flow in several locations between 1999 and 2005.
These discrepancies in the presence of light-colored deposits in gullies on Martian craters are "what you would expect to see if the material were carried by flowing water," Michael Malin, of Malin Space Science Systems in San Diego, asserted in a statement from NASA. The findings were announced Wednesday.
Changes in the makeup of gullies on slopes, a topographical feature first noticed by Malin's research team in 2000, were first noticed after a gully appeared to form after mid-2002. It was, however, attributed to the flow of sand on a dune. But now, comparisons of earlier and more recent images have revealed new light-colored deposits that could possibly be related to ice or salt formations that would come from liquid water flow. Deposits caused by dry dust or sand are more likely to be dark in color.

Google takes a bigger bite of Big Apple
By Marguerite ReardonGoogle, headquartered in Mountain View, Calif., is hoping to make it big in New York City.
After a year of speculation, the company on Monday officially opened a new, bigger and more Google-y office in the Big Apple in the trendy Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan.
The company, which has had an advertising sales presence in Manhattan since 2000, moved its more than 500 New York City employees into the new office at 111 Eighth Ave. and invited the press to take a sneak peek at its new digs. The office, specially designed and built for Google, houses the company's largest advertising sales team. And it's also home to the largest engineering group outside of the main office in Mountain View, Calif.
While Google is a global company with 8,000 employees throughout the world, New York City has become a key location--both in terms of generating revenue and developing new products. And the company is hoping to expand its headcount in the New York office during the next couple of years, executives said.
Google's New York-based advertising team has been instrumental in securing big partnerships, including recent deals with MySpace and AOL, said Tim Armstrong, vice president of advertising sales.
Google added an engineering staff to New York City in 2003. Since then, more than 100 engineering projects have been housed in New York, including: Google Maps, Google Spreadsheets, parts of Google Checkout, Google Blog Search and Google Mobile Search.
Craig Nevill-Manning, engineering director in New York for Google, said that New York City is ripe with software engineering talent.
"There are great computer software engineers who don’t want to move to California," he said. "So we are opening up facilities wherever there are great software engineers, including New York City, Bangalore and Tokyo."
The company, which had occupied four floors of office space at 1440 Broadway in Times Square, has almost triple the amount of square footage in its new location. The new office space covers about 300,000 square feet over three floors. But unlike its previous home in Times Square, most employees will be housed on one floor, which Nevill-Manning said will allow employees to collaborate on projects, accelerating development time and spurring innovation.
The office space at 111 Eighth Ave., which real estate experts estimate is costing the company $10 million a year in rent, is similar in design and functionality to its headquarters in Mountain View. This includes a fully equipped game room that would make any high school boy drool. Foosball, air hockey, ping-pong and pool tables are all available for employees to take a break and "blow off some steam." The room also has a video game area, bean bag chairs, massage chairs and even a full basketball hoop setup.

Cellphone Carriers Focus Ads on Each Other
By KEN BELSON
No more Mr. Nice Guy.
That’s the message cellphone companies seem to be sending in their recent ads. Instead of trumpeting low prices and new phones in advertisements bathed in orange, red, yellow or hot pink, they are pointing out more and more their rivals’ shortcomings.
In one recent ad, Sprint Nextel calls a competitor to task by name, saying that its own mobile broadband service is five times as fast as Cingular’s. Alltel is running a series of ads that spoof its four larger rivals as curmudgeons who object to its new calling plan. T-Mobile plans to phase out its elegant spokeswoman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and to replace her with ordinary people, like those used by other carriers.
That cellphone companies are showing sharper elbows stems from their own success. More than 70 percent of Americans now own phones — thanks in part to the carriers’ relentless marketing — so finding new customers is no longer as simple as pitching people on convenience, cost and coverage.
“It used to be the Wild West, but now that most people have phones, it is about taking out of the other guy’s hide,” said Denis Riney, group director at Siegel & Gale, a brand identity consulting group and subsidiary of the Omnicom Group. “They’re battling for halves and tenths of a percent of market share, so they are trying show that they are not bad and the other guy is worse.”
•How companies are trashing rivals depends on their size. Alltel, a distant fifth with 11 million subscribers, has adopted a nothing-to-lose strategy. In one TV ad, an Alltel salesman defends the company’s My Circle calling plan in court against attacks from stuffy, anticonsumer competitors who represent the biggest carriers.
Customers who sign up for the plan can make free calls to any 10 numbers regardless of the cellphone or land-line carrier of the person being called. Most other carriers let customers make free calls to customers who use the same wireless provider.
Last week, Alltel took the nose-thumbing another step forward, buying billboards in five cities that appeared to be defaced with graffiti by its rivals. One shows an Alltel salesman flanked by faux salespeople from Cingular, Verizon Wireless, Sprint Nextel and T-Mobile who wear company nametags and polo shirts with their company colors.
Over the My Circle logo is the quote, “Our customers love it.” The Cingular salesman holds a hand-painted sign that says, “We don’t.” Another billboard shows an Alltel salesman talking on the phone. His face is covered with orange paint to make him look like a devil, and a pirate’s eye patch and vaguely sinister-looking facial hair are seemingly drawn on. The word “don’t” is painted in front of the tagline, “call anyone on any network for free.”
“We’re trying to have more fun and show we are not just talking to ourselves,” said Frank O’Mara, the executive vice president of marketing at Alltel. “We’re trying to be more pro-customer and show that these guys are bigger and less interested in the customers.” Alltel’s creative agency of record s Campbell-Ewald, based in Detroit.

Know What Google Does To Index
Author: Aaron BrooksSEO and webmaster functions are familiar to those with training and experience. But if you are a self made website owner an understanding of how Google works will erase anxious moments of why is it taking so long! Once you submit pages for indexing Google and other search engines can take as much as a month to index.
When the word "bot" is used it refers to search engine software that reads every page you submit, categorizes it, and places it in a data base. Google's bots are called "The Adsense bot, the Freshbot, and the DeepCrawl." Google according to statistics indexes over 8 million pages.
- The Adsense works on sites that have Adsense. When a new page is set up, the JavaScript in the Adsense sends a "calling" message to the bot. The bot then indexes the page in 15 minutes.
- Freshbot will crawl or examine all the popular pages on a site. A Freshbot for sites like BBC and CNN or eBAY will scan every 10 minutes. Other infrequently updated sites will get a Freshbot "look" every 1-14 days. The frequency depends on the popularity of the pages. Freshbot seeks all the deeper links on your pages and places them in a database in Google. When DeepCrawl takes place there already exists a ready reference.
- DeepCrawl follows the action taken by Freshbot. Once a month or so it will go over links indexed by Freshbot.
The way to go is to add quality content to your site regularly and tease Googlebot into crawling you pages by getting quality inbound links. More important is to create a Google Sitemap for your site. This will be the channel through which you interact with Google. You can send information on new pages, changes, and important pages on your site and Google will send information on problems created by your website pages and how to clear them.
If you have pages that you do not want Google to index then you need to use a robots.txt file. Instructions on how to create a robots.txt are available on the Google site. If you have any problems or questions the Google team will solve the problems for you.
There are advantages to "view" your pages through the eyes of Google and any other search engine crawler. Find out as much as you can and consider using special " SEO tools" http://www.seochat.com/seo-tools/ to check the pages you create. These help you fine tune your site such that it will get indexed quickly.
Read SEO forums and chats regularly and keep updated on what is happening in the SEO word.
While you are exercising patience you should occupy your time in generating inbound links and marketing plans. Keep on your toes and there are chances your site will get the ranking you seek.
